ROAD TRIP: FOOD PLANNING

Welcome to our Road Trip Series! If you are just joining, start here or scroll down for links to all the Road Trip Series posts. Remember that handy-dandy calendar I made for planning out our trip? I kept it on the fridge for months so I could continue to refer back to it as we were planning all the little details. I pulled it down to help with meal planning. I had three planning options for ...

QUICK AND EASY ENERGY BITES

These little balls of goodness are a favorite around here. They come together quickly and seem to disappear almost as fast. I first found the recipe on Smashed Peas and Carrots and tweaked for our tastes. The original calls for coconut flakes but we are a tree nut-free home due to allergies so we substitute crispy rice cereal or finely-ground granola. As she says, this recipe is so darn ...

BUTTERMILK PROTEIN PANCAKES AND WAFFLES

This recipe is our family's go to for pancakes and waffles. I'm not sure where the recipe came from, to be really honest. I've had it for years and we've tweaked it to work for us. When we got a waffle maker for Christmas one year, I converted the recipe to work in it. I like to make a double batch and then either freeze the batter in a gallon freezer Ziploc, or make it all and freeze the pancakes ...

GET BOOED

I didn't want to give up some of our traditions when we moved across the country. Our neighborhood frequently participated in being "booed" (or snowballed for winter/egged for spring). This consists of making or buying some treats for a couple of neighbors and then them passing it on by giving goodies to two more neighbors. What you give can be as involved (or not) as you'd like. I typically buy ...

ROAD TRIP: KEEP THE KIDS BUSY

Welcome to our Road Trip Series! If you are just joining, start here or scroll down for links to all the Road Trip Series posts. I think I'm able to pretty certainly say that keeping the kids busy, or at minimum not bored, is high on the concern list for families thinking of taking a road trip. Maybe my kids are total anomalies but I underestimated their stamina and ability to keep themselves ...

ROAD TRIP: ROUTE PLANNING

Welcome to our Road Trip Series! If you are just joining, start here or scroll down for links to all the Road Trip Series posts. I have been accused of planning too much. Whatever. It feels good to start out with a plan BUT I'm also a momma living real life with three kids who also have their own expectations so flexibility is key. Honestly, having kids was the best thing for me in this ...

Hello! I’m Jennifer.

I'm a momma to three amazing boys and a wife to a husband that's pretty perfect, too. What will you find here? Well, I mostly write about life with my three boys and our adventures living in the PNW, and because life isn't always sunshine and rainbows I write about adult-ing/parenting after childhood trauma. I write because I'm called to, not only by the people around me, but by a stirring in my soul that nudges (okay, sometimes shoves) me to do so. I hope you find something that you can connect to here. I'm excited to share this crazy, awesome life with you and I hope you'll share your voice here, too. Read More…
